The Endangered Languages Research Cluster (ELRC) at the Discipline of English, Khulna University, is a transdisciplinary research initiative committed to the documentation, preservation, and revitalization of endangered and minority languages of Bangladesh and beyond. To strengthen its transdisciplinary scope and enrich its research capacity, ELRC includes cluster members from different disciplines of Khulna University. These members contribute their disciplinary perspectives, methods, and expertise to support the Cluster’s research and outreach activities.
Faculty and researchers from relevant disciplines (e.g., English, Bangla, History and Civilization, Computer Science, Statistics, Sociology, and Education) of Khulna University
Student researchers from relevant disciplines (e.g., English, Bangla, History and Civilization, Computer Science, Statistics, Sociology, and Education) of Khulna University
Representatives of endangered and minority languages studying at Khulna University
The inclusion of members from other disciplines seeks to:
Promote transdisciplinary collaboration in endangered language research and documentation.
Facilitate knowledge exchange between linguistic, cultural, social, and technological domains.
Support joint projects, publications, and academic events that bridge multiple disciplines.
Encourage transdisciplinary mentoring and student participation in field-based and analytical research.
Cluster Members from other disciplines shall:
Collaborate with ELRC researchers on transdisciplinary research projects, proposals, and publications.
Contribute expertise relevant to their discipline—such as ethnographic methods, digital tools, or cultural analysis.
Participate in ELRC seminars, workshops, and meetings, sharing insights from their respective fields.
Support student research and mentoring across disciplinary boundaries.
Assist in resource development, data management, and community engagement initiatives.
Promote the visibility and impact of ELRC through joint academic and outreach activities.
Cluster Members shall be recognized as Cluster Members of the ELRC.
They are entitled to participate in ELRC activities, co-author research outputs, and be acknowledged in relevant publications or project reports.
Cluster Members report to the Chairperson (Coordinator, ELRC) through the Member- Secretary.
They may be invited to present project updates or findings during ELRC Board meetings.
Cluster Members from different disciplines are invited or nominated by the Chairperson (Coordinator, ELRC), with endorsement from the ELRC Board.
Appointments are normally made for a period of three years, renewable based on ongoing collaboration and active engagement.
Changes to these Terms of Reference may be proposed by the Steering Committee, which will take effect after being approved by the Coordinator of the Steering Committee and subsequently by the Chairperson of the ELRC Board and reported to the Faculty Meeting (Academic Committee Meeting) of the English Discipline, Khulna University.
